US State To Require Teachers From New York And California To Pass ‘Trump Loyalty Test’

In a move that has sparked heated debate, one US state is preparing to make teachers take what is being called a ‘MAGA loyalty test’ if they want to apply for jobs from certain states.

Specifically, teachers who come from New York or California and want to work in Oklahoma will first need to sit for a test designed to prove they don’t hold ‘radical leftist ideology’.

Oklahoma’s public schools superintendent, Ryan Walters, announced that the test will be created and administered by PragerU, a nonprofit organization known for producing conservative-leaning educational content.

“As long as I am superintendent, Oklahoma classrooms will be safeguarded from the radical leftist ideology fostered in places like California and New York.” Walters said in an official statement.

During an interview with USA Today, Walters explained that the test would be rolled out soon. He also wrote on X that the exam would ensure students are taught ‘without liberal indoctrination’.

“These reforms will reset our classrooms back to educating our children without liberal indoctrination.” Walters added in his post on X.

“We’re proud to defend these standards, and we will continue to stand up for honest, pro-America education in every classroom.”

The Associated Press, which claims to have reviewed the first five questions, reported that applicants are asked to name the first three words of the US Constitution and explain why freedom of religion is ‘important to America’s identity’.

According to USA Today, other example questions from the test include:

    1. What are the two parts of the U.S. Congress? A. House of Lords and Commons B. Courts and Senate C. Executive and Legislative D. Senate and House of Representatives

    1. How many U.S. Senators are there? A. 435 B. 110 C. 50 D. 100

    1. Why do some states have more Representatives than others? A. They cover a larger geographic area. B. They have held statehood for a longer period. C. The number is determined by military presence. D. Representation is determined by population size.

Critics have quickly pushed back against the proposal. Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, called out the exam and Walters directly, saying: “This MAGA loyalty test will be yet another turnoff for teachers in a state already struggling with a huge shortage.”

Meanwhile, John Waldron, chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, said that if he had been required to take a similar test when he moved from Washington DC to begin teaching in 1999, he would have assumed that Oklahoma simply ‘wasn’t serious about attracting quality teachers’.

“Teachers are not rushing here from other states to teach. We’ve got an enormous teacher shortage and it’s not like we have a giant supply of teachers coming in from blue states anyway.” he added.

The test is set to be introduced soon
